In our first blog of 2017, we promised to bring you lots of good energy efficiency tips, environmental news, and Illinois smart grid updates in the coming months. But we thought you might be wondering who we are and how we’re sourcing all of this information. So we thought we’d give you a little peek into the inner workings of Smart Power Illinois.
Smart Power Illinois is an initiative funded by the Illinois Science and Energy Innovation Foundation, or ISEIF for short. ISEIF is a private not-for-profit organization that works to help consumers understand and harness the benefits of a more modern, efficient electric grid. How the energy grid works and how to be more energy efficient is not something most of us learned in school, so ISEIF gives a number of small and large grants each year to help folks stay on top of their energy bills.
From the Shedd Aquarium to local higher education institutions like the University of Illinois, Illinois State, and Loyola, to the Green Chicago Restaurant Coalition, the Garfield Park Community Council, and the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, ISEIF funds projects that help Illinois consumers see how energy efficiency fits into the aspects of their lives that they’re most excited about. Because, the thing is — a strong electrical grid provides the backbone for pretty much everything!
Smart Power Illinois draws from the expertise of all of the ISEIF grantees to help share quality, fact-checked energy information right here on the blog and direct to your inbox, Facebook, and Twitter feeds. Check out all of the amazing energy partners we work with, and feel free to send us any energy or smart grid questions you have at firstname.lastname@example.org. We’d love to help!
