To celebrate the season of giving, we wanted to share some of the ways our friends have been giving back to the community this year — from energy saving tips to PUPPY SWARMS!
This community-oriented organization helps people do more with less energy. They design and implement efficiency programs that lower costs, protect the environment, and ensure the benefits of energy efficiency reach those who need them most. This year, our favorite posts from their blog were one on energy saving kitchen tips for the summer time — including information about hourly pricing through ComEd and Ameren — and the Puppy Swarm!
Citizens Utility Board:
Since its inception in 1984, the Citizens Utility Board (CUB) has been working for lower rates and better service from the state’s investor-owned electric, gas and telephone companies. Over the last 31 years, CUB has saved consumers more than $20 billion by blocking rate hikes and winning consumer refunds. CUB shared 8 great ways to stay warm this winter and how to be an energy-efficient pet owner.
Faith in Place:
Faith in Place inspires people of diverse faiths to care for the Earth through education, connection, and advocacy. Since 1999, Faith in Place has worked with over 1,000 houses of worship throughout Illinois to protect our common land, air, and water. Faith in Place shared an inspiring story of a church that installed solar panels as part of their commitment to social justice and 6 ways to make your holidays more eco-friendly.
The holidays are a time to appreciate our friends, family, and communities. Smart Power Illinois is so grateful to have such creative, active partners to work with in Illinois and we hope you enjoy the chance to connect with them and learn more about their work.
